Footwear - Shoes
shoe way back when. I wear a nine and a half narrow. If a woman looks hard enough, she
can find a shoe store that will accommodate her. Some styles do not come in narrow at all.
It is tougher for a man. I know a fellow over six foot who can not buy a man's narrow at all.
It drives me crazy that you are forced to pay at least 50-60 dollars for footwear to wear
to that wedding. And the shoes do not fit. I've tried inserts but most of them just roll or
slip out of place.
Found a product on the internet that looks promising. The padding is designed to hug
your ankle at the sides, whereas the back is thin so your foot is not pushed forward in the
shoe. I understand that the edges do not roll, a big plus. Difficult to find it in stores
(distributors could fill another blog or two), but a company rep told me
howtimedanceshoes.com carries the item. It is called Sure Comfort Heel Cushions and they
are made in the midwest. A little confusing, there are two packages on the Show Time site.
If you choose the green package, you can buy men's of women's. Customer service said the
men's are longer. She also assured me that shipping charge is $2.
There is a pair on its way to me. I will give you a report on this item as soon as I try
them out.
12/20/07: Sorry I did not answer sooner. The inserts do O.K. for shoes but I think the
boots are a bit much. They must make them loose to "fit" the multitudes. Finally found
a pair of Trotters in a narrow but They only make them with a heel. My bones are not
used to heels any more. Painful! Fortunately they were on sale so with the
shoemaker's charge, I came out about even. Had 1/4" sawed off the heel. They are
now tolerable. Why do the designers want to torture women?
12/28/07: I lucked out recently. Found a pair of low shoes that look dressy...and they
came in 9.5 narrow. Made by Naturalizer. Very comfortable. Bought them at a store in
Dennis Port, MA on Rte. 28. They do a good business there, carrying a good variety at
reasonable prices. Photo below was not taken there.
1/21/08: "Footwear-Shoes" is still at the top of the list in popularity. According to the
statistics, my particular favorite has made the list - "Sort-of Unconditional Love". It is
about two of my best friends, Sharon and Kelsy. [Oh, the shoe store? Somewhere in
Boston. Love the boots.]
I know it has nothing to do with the subject, except for my big left foot. (My left is one half size
arger than the right, which is not uncommon.)

Have tried the heel grips. They are not bad. A little thicker than ones that have been around. So far no rolling at the edges. And I did move them from one pair of shoes to another. Two pair in the pack.
